The Leverage Foundation

Transformational non-profit consulting. Sustainability innovation. Our knowledge is yours.

At The Leverage Foundation, we are committed to provide the most innovative, cutting edge, and impactful consulting services to the non-profit sector. We understand that, despite all the rhetoric, the non-profit sector has been deprived of prestigious consulting capabilities the way it is provided to the for-profit sector. Reasons for this include; the inability to pay for such consulting services, the fact that for-profit consulting is 'different' than non-profit consulting, and the lack of true commitment from large cutting-edge consulting firms to the non-profit sector.

These are all acceptable rationale for the void in transferring best strategic and full business consulting from the for-profit sector to the non-profit sector. But that doesn't mean that it has to stay this way. The Leverage Foundation can bridge that gap. We are going to bridge that gap. We will provide the best of consulting theory and services to the non-profits that demonstrate desire, ability, and reason to demand better performance, to demand maximum driving of value to the social sector.

Many have written books to guide non-profits, and some of these books are terrific. We use these books not only as sources of knowledge to enhance our solutions, but as benchmarks to understand the gaps between what has been written already, and what we offer. Many have also offered consulting services, and some of these services are similar to what we offer. Again, we evaluate these services as benchmarks to understand the gaps between what is currently offered and what we offer as a total solution. What we have not seen is a deep commitment to the non-profit sector that offers preeminent for-profit methodologies and state-of-the art academic and theoretical framework combined with financing. This 'leverage' has been missing, and is crucial going forward in this highly competitive and important time.

Our professionals have worked in an executive capacity in top-tier Wall Street investment banks, Fortune 500 companies, Big 4 consulting firms, and have attended some of the most prestigious academic institution in the world, including the University of Chicago, Harvard University, and Northwestern University. Our professionals also possess deep industry certifications, including the CPA, CMA, CGMA, ABV, ASA, FRM, CPIM, CSCP, PMP and other related accounting, valuation, finance, operations, and project management designations. Although these are for-profit accomplishments, they are well suited for the non-profit sector with skillful and relevant adaptation. The key is not only our willingness to offer such services to the non-profit sector, it is whether the sector is ready to accept it. Given the increasing competition for funds, the instability of the economy, and continuous pressure by regulators for non-profits to increase performance transparency and robustness, we believe it is, with a tremendous potential reward in the making.

The Leverage Foundation is willing to provide all to the non-profit sector, with the belief and hypothesis that the best practices, lessons learned and knowledge exchange from the for-profit sector can be adapted to and adopted seamlessly by the non-profit sector. And combining that with monies and further collaborations, the 'leverage' is more than compelling. Why deny that? After all, this is about value creation. This is about maximizing value per monies spent. This is about economies of scale, economies of scope. This is about efficiency. Let us help you further your mission, your values, your programs by contacting us today.

We not only provide top-tier and innovative consulting services to our clients, but on a case-by-case basis, we also donate funds to our clients. However, we only donate funds if the clients also are engaged with us for the comprehensive consulting services. We believe our services allow non-profit organizations to perform at their maximum effectiveness and efficiency, driving the most social value and benefit for our firm's and our foundation client's monies. By combining exceptional consulting practices with necessary funds and collateral/infrastructure for our non-profit clients and the whole non-profit sector, we are undoubtedly maximizing societal value delivered.

As can be seen below, invested capital includes all monetary (and non-monetary, in-kind) donations and contributions. Invested capital is used by non-profit organizations to build capacity to perform its programs and services. Capacity includes such major items as people, infrastructure, processes and technology. These items are crucial to the success of any non-profit organization, as together they constitute the foundation of the organization, all working together in concert and synchronicity in order to execute its programs and services. These programs and services are part of the organizations greater strategy, which is the roadmap of operations, marketing, financing, risk management and organizational structure that serves the overall vision. This vision and values that related to it is a future look at what the organization intends to be. This vision is serviced by the organization’s mission. In turn, the aggregation of the capacity, programs, services, strategy, vision, values and mission create social value. If all aspects of the organization’s business are run as optimally as possible, maximum societal value will be created, as discussed above.

The Leverage Foundation is expecting to help non-profit organizations attain their full capacity to deliver maximum societal value, amplifying all aspects of organization’s business capacity, including efficiency, efficacy, and synergy. Societal value that is measurable in terms of dollars or other currency can be stated as returns. Societal value that is not measurable in terms of dollars or other currency, but rather in goodwill, actions, activities, and other non-monetary performance indicators can be stated as benefits. Returns that are created on a certain proportion of total invested capital are called returns on invested capital (“ROIC”). This is a standard for-profit industry nomenclature which provides a standardized measure of realized or realizable value. Benefits that are created on a certain proportion of total invested capital are called benefits on invested capital (“BOIC”). This is not standard nomenclature of either the for-profit or non-profit worlds.

The Leverage Foundation is therefore looking to maximize both ROIC and BOIC by combining top-tier consulting solutions with infrastructure and funds to provide together to non-profit organizations that are willing and able to take advantage of such a powerful value combination. In a perfect world, the Leverage Foundation will grow to an optimal global size such that it reaches a critical mass; that is, it has the personnel and infrastructure to offer most non-profits this value proposition. Assuming most non-profits run as optimally as possible given this methodology, maximum social value will be created, leaving little waste of time, monies or other resources.

Why us?

We aggregate the best of for-profit industry, Big 4, academic, and professional consulting theory and conform it specifically for the non-profit sector. Why do we do this? Because we believe the non-profit sector is underserved in this regard, relative to the for-profit sector. And we want to help maximize value. We want to help bridge the gap between those that have big money to spend on consulting, and those that don't. We also understand how important the non-profit sector is to the economy. Non-profits do work that the for-profit sector is incapable of, and that the government is inefficient at. This is not an insult. It is a fact. And the more in tune everyone is to it, the larger the value can be driven into the sector.

Our mission is to drive as much value to the non-profit sector as possible, using the best of theory from the highly capitalized for-profit sector and prestigious academic world. We fully intend to assure each non-profit sector that if they have a noble mission, The Leverage Foundation is on your side to ensure you achieve it. That you maximize as much value and drive as much benefit into society as possible. We will work relentlessly to do so. And that's our promise.
